Much love to the good folks at Bakitwhy.com for coming out and covering the SOUNDS OF A NEW HOPE event at Cal State Long Beach! Extra special thanks to Zeta Phi Rho for hosting as well as Krystle Tugadi, PAC Modern, Shining Sons, and Vicoy BagongSigaw for rocking the stage before the film!
And a big thanks to the students and audience for such an lively Q&A after the screening. It was fulfilling to see that they were so engaged with the film and had a lot of questions to ask. The last question, "Can you rap?" was the funniest. If you want to see the impromptu answer to that question click here. (Excuse the fumble on one of the lines, still working on it!)
Sounds of a New Hope is a documentary film about the life of Filipino-American MC Kiwi and the growing use of hip-hop as an organizing tool in the people's movement for national liberation and democracy in the Philippines.
